About Saba - Getting here
Saba may be in the middle of the Caribbean, but it’s very easy to reach. St. Maarten, 28 miles north east of Saba, runs daily flights and frequent ferries to our island. Frequent international air travel from North America and Europe to St. Maarten is offered by American, Delta, Continental, US Airways, United, Spirit, Jet Blue, Air Canada, Air France, KLM, Air Caraibes and Corsair. St. Maarten is also one of the main hubs for many Caribbean airlines, check the website of Princess Juliana airport (airport code SXM) for all the carriers and connections.

From St. Maarten you can either connect to the local airline Winair, or take the Dawn II or Edge ferry. It’s very hard to buy a ticket from North America or Europe all the way to Saba. In most cases you have to buy a ticket to St. Maarten and a separate ticket from St. Maarten to Saba.

Flying to Saba
Saba is a short 12-minute flight from St. Maarten on the local airline Windward Island Airways. Winair (airline code WM) runs 5 connecting flights to and from St. Maarten everyday. Flights on Winair can be booked directly through the Winair website, where you'll find scheduling options and e-ticketing.

Ferry to Saba
If the Winair flights are full, you have a lot of luggage or simply prefer going by boat rather than flying, there are two ferries to choose from. Please note each ferry runs on certain days of the week.

The Dawn II Ferry

The Dawn II Ferry usually runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, but check their website for the most up-to-date schedule or contact their office directly at info@sabactransport.com or +599-416-2299. The Dawn II leaves St. Maarten from Chesterfield’s (Great Bay Marina) in Philipsburg at 5:00pm and arrives on Saba at 7:00pm. The ferry leaves Saba at 7:00am, arriving on St. Maarten at 9:00am, allowing enough time for international connections at the Princess Juliana Airport.

The Edge Ferry
The Edge Ferry comes over to Saba for a day. The Edge comes to Saba Wednesday through Sunday, leaving from Pelican Marina in St. Maarten’s Simpson Bay. Departing St. Maarten at 9:00am (you must arrive at the dock by 8:15am), arrives on Saba at 10:30am, departs at 3:30pm and arrives back on St. Maarten at 5:00pm. The Edge does not allow enough time for international connections at the airport, but is a great option for those who want to spend some time on St. Maarten before going home. For reservations and scheduling information
tel: +599-544 2640 email: aquamania@sintmaarten.net.

N.B. Both Winair and the ferry companies may change their schedules due to the number of reservations or weather conditions. It is therefore important that you make a reservation ahead of time so that you can be contacted in case of a schedule change. Always be sure to arrive early at either the airport or the marina, allowing enough time to go through customs and immigration.
